Fix sideways and upside-down scans without re-scanning or installing anything.
PDF pages carry a rotation attribute as part of their definition — readers honor it when displaying. The tool adds your chosen angle to each target page's existing rotation (mod 360), which means it corrects even pages that were already partially rotated: a page displayed sideways at 90° plus your 90° arrives upright at 180°… and a second pass fixes it the rest of the way. Because it's metadata, not re-rendering, text stays text and file size barely changes.
Scanners produce sideways pages more often than they should — automatic orientation detection guesses, and long double-sided jobs can come out mixed. The pages-range field exists exactly for those jobs: rotate the handful of strays instead of re-running the batch.
One honest note: rotation fixes the view. If you later need the page's text extracted or OCR'd, the text layer's orientation matters independently — most modern OCR handles rotated pages fine, but check a sample.
The mixed-orientation job is this tool's reason to exist: a 40-page double-sided scan where pages 13, 27 and 31 came out sideways. Three targeted range-runs fix exactly those pages without touching the 37 that were fine — versus re-scanning the lot or rotating the whole file and breaking the good pages.
Rotation plays well with the other PDF tools here: rotate the sideways scans, extract the pages worth keeping, then merge documents into one package — three passes, all local, and the working files never multiply into 'final_v2_REAL' chaos on your desktop the way manual re-saving tends to.
No — it changes a number in each page's definition, not the page content. File size stays essentially identical.
The page may have had existing rotation that combined oddly, or your viewer cached the old view. Re-open the downloaded file fresh; run the tool again for another quarter turn if needed.
Specify their page numbers in the range field — run it once per group of strays.
Yes — rotation is page-level, so scanned, text and mixed PDFs all rotate the same way.
Modern OCR handles 90°/180° rotations natively, and fixing the rotation first usually improves accuracy. Rotate, then OCR.
Yes — run it twice with different ranges and angles. Each pass only touches the pages you name.
Adding rotation can invalidate a signature on a signed document, since it alters the bytes. Rotate first, sign last — the correct order anyway.
