Text diff checker

Compare two versions of a text line by line — additions in green, deletions in red. Useful for config files, listing copy and code snippets.

Paste two texts and press Compare.

How it works

The comparison is a longest-common-subsequence diff over lines: unchanged lines pass through, lines only in the new text are marked with +, lines only in the original with −. Identical texts produce no markers. Everything runs locally — compare anything without it leaving the page.

Frequently asked questions

Is it character-level or line-level?

Line-level, like a compact git diff. Character-level diffs get noisy on prose; line-level shows the intent.

Does case matter?

Yes — "Title" and "title" are different lines. Trim the whitespace option only normalizes padding.
